If you鈥檝e spent much time on campus the past four years, you鈥檝e probably met Alexus Barry. The fourth-year student is set to graduate with a degree in social work in December, and has been very active as a Buckeye Ambassador, resident advisor at Molyet Village Apartments, various student clubs and as the student trustee on the 海角论坛 Mansfield Board.

Alexus faced a significant challenge in 2024 when her car had mechanical issue. The repair bill was out of reach at the time, but thanks to the Student Emergency Fund, she was able to pay for the necessary repairs and continue classes, as well as her off-campus job.

鈥淚 had heard about the emergency fund from faculty and staff members who knew about my hardships,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 got awarded some money from this fund to help pay for car expenses and it helped me tremendously. This changed my perspective on how much help this campus actually can provide to students.鈥

Alexus was born and raised in Mansfield and is proud to be earning her college degree in her hometown. She encourages donors to give whatever they鈥檙e able to, because every gift can make a big difference.

鈥淭hese funds help students just like me who have struggled financially in the past and felt like they had nowhere to turn. Because of these funds, I have continued to thrive in college and lead a successful academic life.鈥
